About this site

The Mortgage Ledger is a free, independent mortgage payment calculator built to make one thing clear: what a monthly housing payment actually consists of, not just a single lump-sum estimate. Most calculators show principal and interest and stop there; this one breaks out property tax, homeowners insurance, PMI and HOA dues, and shows how the balance between principal and interest shifts year by year through the amortization ledger.

Alongside the mortgage calculator, the site includes a set of quick unit converters (length, weight, temperature and area) in the sidebar — small, genuinely useful utilities for anyone doing quick conversions, whether or not they're thinking about a mortgage that day.

Who built this

This site is maintained by an independent creator, not a bank, lender or mortgage broker. It doesn't collect applications, sell leads, or offer financial products — it's a calculation tool only. Figures shown are estimates for informational purposes and shouldn't be treated as a loan offer or financial advice; always confirm numbers with a licensed lender before making a decision.

Accuracy and updates

The calculations follow standard amortization formulas used across the mortgage industry. If you notice something that looks incorrect, or have a suggestion for an additional feature (another unit converter, a refinance calculator, etc.), feedback is genuinely welcome and the site is updated periodically based on it.
